Hi! I'm Krista.
I learned how to bake from my Dad at a very young age. It feels like I've been baking for as long as I can remember!
By day I'm a dietitian, which means I have had to take my fair share of food science classes! (Learn more about my work as a dietitian here)
Eventually I started to combine what I know about food science with my lifelong hobby of baking, and I started experimenting with making my own dessert recipes.
And now I'm starting to dive into the world of cake decorating! Follow along with me as I share my favorite cake recipes and the tips and tricks I'm picking up along the way for beautiful, show-stopping cake decorating.

Are these healthy desserts?
I know I'm a dietitian, but no! I save the healthy recipes for my day job! I believe dessert should be dessert, sugar and all.
Do I need to be a good artist to decorate cakes?
In short, no! For a longer answer, I'm a firm believer that everyone can improve at almost any skill with practice. I never considered myself great at visual arts, but I've slowly been practicing and have gotten a lot better! Additionally, cake decorating is a slightly different skillset from drawing or painting. Many of my artist friends say they struggle with cake decorating and vice versa. Having art skills might help for choosing great color combinations or doing freehand designs, however.
I draw inspiration for cake flavors from all over! Sometimes I draw inspiration from my Latin American heritage, and other times I focus on what flavor combinations sound exciting or new to me. Plus, other times, I pull from my childhood faves. Inpsiration can come from anywhere!
